What is the difference between open and enclosed carriers?

The difference between enclosed and open carriers are that as their name states it, motorcycles are transported either open to the environment and road conditions or safe guarded from them. Enclosed carriers are more expensive to maintain and can be covered with hard canvas or metal walls. Open carriers are lees expensive to maintain and are very common, starting with small towing trucks to 18 wheelers.
